Meet Smash’s Newest Boxing Class Instructor & Personal Trainer!

Smash Gyms is very proud to announce another awesome addition to our staff. Imanuel “Manny” Rocha is martial artist, athlete and personal trainer. Manny’s passion for fitness and martial arts make him a fun and popular personal trainer and coach. His willingness to help people of all fitness and experience levels have helped him grow a loyal following of students and training partners. 

Manny Rocha Won his Boxing debut by KO!

Manny once weighed 289lbs and through martial arts and fitness has discovered a path to reaching his potential. After losing 90lbs he is excited to give back what he has learned along his journey to the members at Smash Gyms.

As a personal trainer Manny's work ethic is contagious!

In his goal to become a well-rounded martial artist Manny has trained and competed in boxing, jiu-jitsu, tae kwon do, kickboxing and kenpo karate. He has trained with World Champion Kickboxer and coach Mike Winkeljohn, trained with world champion boxer Danny Romero, with MMA champions Nick & Nate Diaz, and BJJ Blackbelt Phil Torres. He has sought out the best coaching possible and looks forward to passing on his skills and knowledge to his students.

Manny is teaching beginner friendly classes at Smash San Jose 5 days a week! Boxing at 7:30pm on Monday & Wednesday and 6:30pm on Fridays and Kickboxing on Tuesday & Thursday at 6:30pm. Kids Kickboxing and boxing coming soon. All the classes at Smash focus on providing you with a great workout, learning something and most importantly having FUN!

Manny is now just as sought after for his personal training services at Smash as his striking skills. Manny specializes in helping women and men reach their fitness goals through motivating and affordable personal training sessions. His experience as a Personal Trainer with Golds Gym coupled with his versatile martial arts background makes for unique and fun fitness training sessions. Fitness Classes have started at the East San Jose Smash! Beginning Monday 2/24/14  we will have a full schedule of new fitness classes in our brand new Evergreen & East San Jose location! Strength & Conditioning classes will be at 5:30pm and 7:30pm throughout the week. We will also have our popular total body fitness bootcamps at 6:30pm Monday-Thursday. Both classes are very popular for all fitness levels and age groups!

Get Strong at Smash!

Our beginner friendly Strength & Conditioning Classes are taught by highly qualified certified trainers. Our trainers take a systematic and comprehensive approach to fitness. We understand that everyone has different goals and our trainers do everything we can to guarantee your success. In our program you will learn how to workout in way that gets results! In addition to getting in shape this program has a heavy focus on strength training and muscle gains. You will learn proper Olympic lifting technique with a very beginner friendly approach. Additionally participants will get an education on diet, fat loss and conditioning direction. You will get stronger and faster and gain lean muscle mass as you lose fat. The goal of this program is to help you reach your athletic potential. Instructors will closely monitor your progress and help you along your fitness journey. 

Functional Strength!

Our total body fitness Bootcamps are circuit training classes designed to burn calories and fat! Your cardiovascular endurance will see huge improvement in this class as you tone and sculpt your body into a functional fitness machine! There is no boredom here as with traditional exercise programs. The Smash Boot Camp staff ensures each participant does each exercise correctly each and every time. They know how to keep everyone moving with a smile on their face. Everyone is dedicated to getting you to your goal and will help make every aspect lead you there. Burn calories, build strength, and increase your coordination all in one class! The hour passes by quickly because of the timed stations, unique and fun exercises, awesome partners, and encouraging instructors! This class incorporates challenging workout stations designed to push anyone to the next level! You get an intense overall workout while allowing you to progress at your own pace. A winning and fun combination of aerobic, weight training, and body weight exercises like you’ve never seen!

James Cebedo Earns a Silver Medal in Weightlifting Competition

Smash Strength & Conditioning Coach and personal trainer James Cebedo of Santa Clara earned a Silver Medal this weekend in an Olympic Weightlifting Competition in the 69kg weight class. He weighed in at 66.08kg, and was the lightest guy in the division. James plans on making 62kg in his next competition. It was a tough competition since the 1st place guy is a nationally ranked lifter. James lifted 91kg (200#) in snatch and 111kg (244#) in clean and jerk. He plans on cutting weight to the 62kg weight class to qualify for nationals! James is a certified personal trainer and crossfit instructor.

“I have come a long way in my 13-year fitness journey. When I started my fitness journey I had no athletic experience, I was overweight and I had average or below average genetics. I began to research everything about becoming fit and experimented with all aspects of fitness. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and learned from them. I have experimented and tested every theory of fitness from diet, to training methods, to mental preparation. You would not believe the crazy experiments I have tried. Now I know what works. With the knowledge and experience that I have gained through certifications, self-study and experimentation I pushed my body into what most would consider an elite athlete. I had no idea when I started this journey it would take me this far.

I am here to gladly pass all of that information, knowledge and experience on to you. I can just hand it to you. Trust the other coaches and myself with your fitness goals and I guarantee you that will reach them. Whether you want to lose fat, get stronger, add muscle, prepare for a competition, or just general overall fitness decide on your goal and let us know. We will give you the steps to reach your goal and help you along the way.

To improve yourself you should have a definitive plan. Share that plan with your coaches at Smash and we will help you get there. This is the best way to continue to improve. It becomes easy to stay motivated if you are specific with your goals and reach them. It is hard to reach your goals if you have none. We all needs that sense of accomplishment to stay happy as athletes and just as people. If you are unsure what you should be working on come see us and we will help you set your goals.
