Great performances at the Bay Area Jiu-jitsu Championships

On Sunday Nov. 18th, Smash Gyms Brazilian Jiu-jitsu students competed in the 4th Bay Area Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Hayward, CA.   The team had contestants in the kids, women, men, and no gi divisions.  At the end of the day of tough competition, our competitors earned 2 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals.  Big congratulations to all who competed.

Jiu-Jitsu Can Help You Discover Who You Are

Training Jiu-Jitsu can be an important tool for self-improvement. You learn really a lot about yourself if you pay attention during training. I believe training BJJ can expose character flaws and really help you improve as a person.

Are you humble or arrogant? Are you a hard worker or lazy? Are you too competitive? Are you a know it all? Do you never give up? Are you consistent or inconsistent? Are you mentally weak or strong? Are you able to keep long lasting relationships? Do you make excuses or do you make it happen?

Train Jiu-Jitsu long enough and you will discover some things about yourself if you are willing to look inward. If you do not play and work well with others it will become apparent in training.

2012 Rising Sun Nationals Highlight Video

Congratulations to our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team! Smash grapplers brought home 3 Gold, 2 Silver & 2 Bronze Medals from this weekend’s tournament in Daly City. Every one of our competitors did well. Below are some highlights of Smash Jiu-Jitsu competitors!

Morning Mixed Martial Arts Fitness Classes

Sunnyvale & Santa Clara- Smash Gyms has morning MMA training from 10:30am-11:30am Monday through Friday! These beginner friendly MMA fitness classes are a great way to improve your overall fitness and functional strength while learning self-defense. The MMA class participants range from professional & amateur fighters to stay-at-home moms.

In this fun and unique fitness class participants will learn techniques, drills and workouts borrowed from a variety of disciplines. The morning MMA class teaches techniques from Boxing, Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Judo. The wide variety of class formats, strength and conditioning exercises and fighting styles makes a fun and exciting class to help keep our members interested and motivated. This class has a strong emphasis and safety and welcomes all skill and fitness levels. All of our group fitness and exercise classes at Smash are all beginner friendly. The 10:30am MMA class is perfect for students, people with flexible work schedules, housewives, or anyone that sneak out of work!

Immediately following the MMA class is a Noon Jiu-Jitsu class five days a week. The Lunch time fitness and BJJ classes are some of the most popular classes at Smash!
